Phi Kappa Phi Dissertation Fellowship Application Open

By Lorena Roberts on October 3, 2018

Whether you’re in graduate school, finishing graduate school, or considering going to graduate school, it is likely that you’ve heard of the daunting task “writing a dissertation.” Often, this is one of the toughest academic challenges our students face, all for the reward of earning the title “Doctor.”

According to a recent press release, the Honor Society, Phi Kappa Phi, is accepting applications for their dissertation fellowship, an award of $10,000 to put towards the writing and research process. Recipients must be an active member of Phi Kappa Phi in order to apply, as well as be in the process of writing their dissertation. (But if you’re not currently in that stage, here’s something to look forward to!)

“It is an honor to receive the Dissertation Fellowship from The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi,” said Malinee Neelamegam, a 2018 Dissertation Fellow. “The ABD finish line is challenging, and the fellowship will allow me to work towards completing my doctoral journey successfully. Beyond the financial assistance, the fellowship provides doctoral students like me the motivation and reassurance of the importance of the work we do.”

Phi Kappa Phi is one of the oldest, most prestigious Honor societies in the world. They contribute nearly $1 million on a yearly basis towards giving students opportunities to achieve their academic goals. Graduate fellowships, study abroad grants, funding for post-baccalaureate development, and literacy grants are all in the repertoire of what Phi Kappa Phi supports.

Each year, Phi Kappa Phi awards 10 Dissertation Fellowships in the amount of $10,000 each to scholars across the nation. In order to be eligible, you must have met all pre-dissertation requirements by the application deadline, November 30.
